Bangalore-based Swapan Gurudass has carved a niche for himself in the world of music through the remarkable display of skill
and talent in playing the tabla. A disciple of Pdt. Suresh Samant, director of the Samant Tabla class, Pune, he impresses
listeners with purity and precision in a performance devoid of gimmicks.
Swapan was initiated into learning the tabla at the tender age of 8 and has, since then, religiously maintained riyaz.
He has also performed in the All India Radio -Bhopal and accompanied with many Classical Indian instruments (Sitar,Flute etc..)And
Gahzals, Geets and Bhajans (devotional vocal style).
Swapan plays the tabla in the Benaras-Delhi- Farukhabad gharana style and works hard to create magic.
The combination of intelligence and intense passion makes Swapan a keen learner,a reformer and revolutionist and above
all a renaissance musician as he likes to call himself.
Swapan , with Mrs.Minnal Lonkar(a Mumbai based artist) has started an organization-MaNiSAa-Madhyam Nishaad Sangeet Aandolan
for upliftment of Indian Classical Music at Mumbai.They also organize some events for the same.
Swapan is also catalyst in RythemSeven -Goa and Pune region with his vocal music partner Amey Wadekar.Ameya is taking
higher studies from Pt.Kamlakar Naik-Goa in Vocal Indian Classical Music.
